Making Kids Happy

There is nothing better than seeing a child smile, especially when it's my own child. We don't have the means to spoil our kids with lots of purchases, but I love to find ways to make their day brighter, even if it's only for a minute. Things like:
  • Having them answer the phone
  • Giving them the beater to lick
  • Letting them sign the credit card slip at Walmart
  • Asking them to take a few pictures with the digital camera
  • Saying, "I didn't know you could do that! When did you get so smart?"
  • Showing them a coin on the ground that they can pick up
It's not much, but it's the little things!

lol! So did the checkout gal compare signatures with your card??
I sometimes let my girl press all the buttons except the signature line.

LOL at the signature line. Too funny. I think children help us to remember the small things in life can bring a lot of joy!

I love this post because I am in the same boat as you....I can't afford to spoil my kids rotten with toys. But I looooooooove all your suggestions!! Giving kids the beaters to lick is like Christmas morning....they just light up. It's the best!!

p.s. Can't stop laughing at the POOP signature!!

I love that signature. Isn't it great when they learn to read, and write, and spell. All the important stuff.

Great things to remember. Now if he's signing for you, does that mean he thinks your name is Poop?

You are a genius mama; these are brilliant things.

And [I cannot resist] that is EXACTLY what I would write on a Wal-Mart receipt. ;)

So funny! It never occurred to me to let my kids sign the CC slip. I can't wait to try out that one!

Dontcha wonder why we have to sign since only one out of every cashier checks?

Story about that? When we were first married, my husband borrowed my credit card to go to Lowe's to get some paint. They mixed it, but they wouldn't let him buy it because he wasn't me (and we don't even have the same last name). We went back that night, and there were two buckets on the "mistint" shelf for five dollars each. They were ours. Quite the scam had we known we were perpetrating it, eh?

No "POOP" to that!
