Some Things Just Suck

What do all these things have in common?

Answer: all things that are NOT allowed at the YMCA pool that we just joined. Full summer payment. No refunds.

No floaties or suits with built ins? That's just unsafe!!! To heck with the rest of that stuff, but come on... safety devices! It's not like they are toys!

Okay, the deal is this: ONLY coast-guard approved PFD's (Personal Flotation Devices) are allowed. So, basically, life jackets.

I even asked them, What if my kid passes the deep water test? THEN can they use a noodle?

No.

But, they won't need to RELY on it for floating, since they have already passed the swim test!

Uh, no. I don't know why that rule is, it's just for everyone's safety.

What. The. Frack. That doesn't make any sense at all.

Boo to sucky rules. You should have gotten a pass to Hawaiian Falls. :)

Oh no! You'll know to ask next year.

On the plus side - kids love the water - they'll find a way to have fun anyway.

I have been to a pool with these rules and it is stupid, stupid, stupid. I just don't get it!

we have a pool like that around here too, we had to go out and buy a new float for the little one called, Puddle Jumpers. They look hilarious on your child but they are coast-guard approved...that is SUCH a stupid rule :(

Okay, I posted this last night and it disappeared.

As marissa said, we use Puddle Jumpers by Stearns. They are coast guard approved and WONDERFUL! They have cute pictures on them, or just fun colors, and they help them stay either upright or on their back (safest position in the water).

You can find them at Target (and a few other stores, but I know at Target).

So you can swim laps?
I just imagine all these kids standing in waist deep water with their hands at their sides.... Stairs are pretty crowded.

They have these floaty life jacket things now that wrap around their tummy and snap in back on go on their arms, they are Coast Guard approved. They are made by Stearnes and I got them for my kids at Walmart. My nephew floated all over the lake in them this weekend... unlike both of my kids that seem to be terrified of the water.

How ridiculous and you would think they would REFUND your money especially if you haven't used the facilities and they do not allow the items your family wishes to paly with. I would raise eleventy billion kinds of hell until the gratefully gave me my money back just so I would shutup and go away.

RIDONKULOUS!!!
