Texan Readers, We Have a Problem...

If you follow me on Twitter, you might already know that I cut my finger last night. Left index finger, to be exact.

This was no ordinary paper cut. Think, giant 10" chef knife, freshly sharpened, cutting into a block of frozen cheese, trying to hurry up and get dinner finished in time. And I was frustrated so, you know, that made my actions all a little more, ahem, amped up.

And there you go. One finger gets a little too close to the knife and .....

blood on the cheese. blood on the counter. blood on my shirt.

I tried to figure out if I should go to the ER or just cowboy up and apply pressure. I wussed out and went to the ER. They ended up just giving me some Surgiseal and a bunch of gauze, and a tetanus shot, and sent me home.

So, my question is, do you want to see a picture?

THANK GOD it wasn't my right hand. I don't know how I'd push the shutter button. As it is, my left middle finger is doing double duty. I think my blogging will be a bit slow-going for a while...

Oh my gosh! Ouch! Hope you're feeling better. Umm...picture, I don't know why but finger injuries kind of gross me out (I think I was traumatized back in my training days). I guess as long as the nail was not involved it might be okay :)

To be completely honest, unless it's bandaged, I don't think I could bear it! And just another reason I don't cook. I'm hopeless with knives. Hope you heal quickly.

So sorry! I'm not allowed near the knives in our house for that very same reason. We bought a new set of Henkel knives several years back and I sliced my finger WASHING them before we even got to use them. Seriously.

We have an ER doc here in the house...just a reminder that moist wounds heal faster than dry wounds. Unless the moisture is nasty and dirty! ;O)

OUCH! Take care of that cut! I'm sorry I know this will slow you down and that's not something a mom of 5 can do easily...or at all. If I lived nearby I'd bring dinner over.

OUch. I hate it when I cut my finger while cooking. It makes me feel like such an amateur. ;)

Picture is up to you. Having been a mom for almost twenty years, I've almost seen it all. I can take just about anything.

I understand what you're saying about blogging. I was playing catch with my son a couple of weeks ago and misjudged the football as I went to catch it. Jammed my finger something fierce. It's still swollen and tender two weeks later. I have it taped to the one next to it at the knuckle so I can try to type. It's slow going.

But it's better than in the beginning. For the first couple of days, any touching of the keyboard caused excruciating pain.

I hope you heal well and that your computer keys are very sensitive so you don't have to push hard.

Sorry about the injury.

You slay me.

So to speak.

Of course, I want to see pictures.

Ooohhh my. soak your finger in some white vinegar if it starts to bleed. in fact soak it in some white vinegar everyday before you rebandage it. that will prevent infection; clot the blood; and keep it smelling nice too. ;)

ahhhh the power of White Vinegar.

Get Better Texan Mama and we'll be here no worries.

I cut my pointer finger on my left hand when I was 12, cutting a carrot, really lame and got stitches, hated it. Fast forward to oh last year and I cut my middle finger on my right hand ON A LID TO A CAN OF BEANS! and needed stitches...when getting them I told the ER doc I would rather be giving birth, naturally, then having to get stitches, he sort of laughed, but not really!

Show us!

I'm glad you are okay. If I got you right the left middle finger isn't doing the cooking... I enjoyed my visit to your site, I hope blogging isn't too painful.
